Visiting Prestfelde
Prestfelde is a leading day and boarding prep school for ages 3-13, set within 30 acres in the heart of Shrewsbury.
Space to flourish is not a metaphor here. Prestfelde’s campus gives children space to be children – room to run, explore, play, compete and reflect – within a secure environment that builds safe independence, all within the heart of the county town.
We are delighted to welcome families to Prestfelde for a personal family tour or to join us at one of our Open Days.

Your visit will be tailored to your family and the age of your child. You will be shown around our beautiful 30-acre campus, explore our classrooms and facilities and see Prestfelde pupils enjoying everyday school life, both inside the classroom and outdoors.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the areas of school life that are particularly important to you and your child.
A private tour usually takes around an hour. We recommend allowing a little additional time for conversations with members of our Admissions Team and school staff.
Where possible, your visit will include an informal conversation with our Headmaster, Mr Matty Thavenot, giving you the opportunity to hear more about Prestfelde’s ethos, values and approach to education and to ask any questions you may have.
Yes. Visiting during the school day is a wonderful way to experience Prestfelde as it really is. You will be able to see pupils learning, spending time with their friends and enjoying the breadth of opportunities available across the School.
Our Admissions Team will work with you to arrange a suitable date and time for your visit. We want your tour to give you the best possible opportunity to experience the areas of Prestfelde most relevant to your child.
A private tour offers a more personalised visit tailored to your child and your family’s interests.
Our Open Events provide a broader introduction to Prestfelde, with opportunities to explore the School, see our facilities, experience the atmosphere of a normal school day and speak to a range of teachers and members of staff.
Both are excellent ways to discover whether Prestfelde feels right for your family.
The School will retain personal data securely and only in line with how long it is necessary to keep for a legitimate and lawful reason. Typically, the legal recommendation for how long to keep ordinary pupil files is up to 7 years following departure from the School (or until age 25, whichever is the later, in the case of pupils). However, incident reports and safeguarding files will need to be kept much longer, in accordance with specific legal requirements. The Independent Enquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) gives guidance on this matter and any data relating to actual or suspected child sexual abuse must be retained indefinitely.
If you have any specific queries about how this policy is applied, or wish to request that personal data that you no longer believe to be relevant is considered for erasure, please contact The Bursar, bursar@shrewsbury.org.uk . However, please bear in mind that the School may have lawful and necessary reasons to hold on to some data.
The School’s policy on Data Retention is contained within Appendix C of the Data Policies document.
Prestfelde welcomes boys and girls from Nursery through to Year 8. During your visit, we can focus particularly on the part of the School your child would be joining and explain how their journey through Prestfelde develops as they grow.
Yes. Our Admissions Team can discuss availability for your child’s proposed year of entry and explain the next steps should you wish to progress an application.
If you would like to take the next step after visiting Prestfelde, our Admissions Team will guide you through the process. This normally begins with registering your interest, followed by an opportunity for your child to experience life at Prestfelde through a Taster Day or, for younger children, a Stay & Play or Taster Session.
There is no obligation to progress your application simply because you have visited us.
Our Admissions Team will be very happy to help with any questions before you arrive and can tailor your visit around the things you would particularly like to see or discuss.
