Academic Life
Excellent teaching at Prestfelde is built on relationships.
Pupils are inspired and challenged by teachers who know their strengths, individual needs and interests. With an average class size of 16, that knowledge is real rather than aspirational.
Learning is purposeful, engaging and ambitious. Core subjects are taught with rigour, while foundation subjects run alongside them to develop breadth, cultural literacy and creativity. French is taught throughout the School, with Latin introduced from Year 5, and specialist learning support is fully integrated so that every child is stretched and supported from their individual starting point.
2026 Scholarships Achieved
Excellence at Prestfelde is not a single result. It is what happens in an ordinary lesson – thoughtful teaching, high expectations held day after day, and children encouraged to aim higher than they thought possible until aiming higher stops feeling like a risk and starts feeling natural.
Our pupils’ outcomes speak for themselves. In the last five years, Prestfelde pupils have achieved a strong range of scholarships and awards across academic and specialist areas and 100% progress to the senior school of their choice.
42 scholarships were achieved in 2026 alone.

Specialist Teaching and Growing Independence
As children move through Prep, they transition increasingly towards a senior-school model.
Lessons are predominantly taught by subject specialists, giving pupils experience of moving between classrooms, managing their equipment and adapting to different teaching styles.
This helps children become more organised, independent and confident well before they move on to senior school.
Years 3–5 retain a particularly creative and collaborative approach, with teachers building links between subjects and creating opportunities for experiential learning.
As pupils progress towards Years 6–8, academic challenge increases and they take greater responsibility for their own learning.
Confident Futures
By the time pupils leave Prestfelde, we want them to be confident learners who know how to approach challenge, think independently and make the most of new opportunities.
They leave with strong academic foundations, breadth of experience and the confidence that comes from being known, supported and challenged throughout their journey.
Curious minds. Courageous hearts. Confident futures.
